Each Sunday, Pitchfork takes an in-depth look at a significant album from the past, and any record not in our archives is eligible. Today, we look back at the Atlanta rapper’s extremely raw 2014 mixtape, a mask-off heel turn that stands as the best release of Future’s career.

There are many rappers out there who dig deep into their lives for heavy stories of pain and sorrow. The DMV rapper does this too, but he elevates the art form to a whole new level.

  • Raavi – “second thoughts”
by Danielle Chelosky on August 15, 2026 at 4:57 pm

New York’s Raavi are back with their first new music since 2024’s The Upside EP. On Friday (Aug. 14), the indie-pop band returned with the sprawling, gorgeous tune “second thoughts,” which is the first taste of something new coming soon. It’s a relaxed, meditative track, with Raavi Sita’s hypnotic vocals as the centerpiece as she sings of jealousy, wine, and skinny dipping, before the guitars build into a swift storm around her. It comes with a music video by fellow musician Nara Avakian; watch below. The post Raavi – “second thoughts” appeared first on Stereogum.

  • Courtney Love Gives Album Update, Explains How She Almost Died
by Danielle Chelosky on August 15, 2026 at 2:01 pm

Courtney Love has been teasing a new solo album since 2020. It would serve as the followup to 2010’s Nobody’s Daughter, which was billed as a Hole record despite Love being the only member of the band involved. When she first mentioned the LP, she said it was “the longest record that’s ever been written in the history of rock, so it better fuckin’ be good, no filler.” Then, in 2024, she shared that Michael Stipe and Will Sergeant were featured on it. Today, she offered another update on the album, while also explaining the health struggles she endured in 2019 that almost resulted in her death. • Twisted Teens – “toe”
by Chris DeVille on August 14, 2026 at 8:52 pm

New Orleans duo Twisted Teens have become one of the breakout underground rock bands of the year thanks to two albums’ worth of ragged, energetic, extremely catchy Southern-fried punk rock. They recently announced they’ll have a third LP out this year to go along with Blame The Clown and Florida Water Blues, a breakup album they’ve compared to Blood On The Tracks. I have no idea if “toe” will be on there or not, but if it is, the album will be quite different from the rest of this band’s work. The post Twisted Teens – “toe” appeared first on Stereogum.

    • MOBY, JACOB LUSK, BLOND:ISH, KIKO FRANCO – NATURAL BLUES (TECIE)
by SOUNDFISTER on August 15, 2026 at 4:04 pm

Whoever out there went to see Moby live this summer left quite impressed by his performance and the depth of his music catalogue.A new studio version inspired by one of the most talked-about live moments of 2026: Moby and Jacob Lusk’s viral Coachella performance is released this week as Moby, BLOND:ISH and Kiko Franco released this new dance version on Defected. One of the most commanding vocalists in contemporary music, Jacob Lusk brings an unmistakable emotional quality to the record, transforming Moby’s iconic song into its most soulful and expansive form.BLOND:ISH’s uplifting piano flourishes and radiant synth work remain at the heart of the production, while Kiko Franco’s melodic Afro house-inspired arrangements drive the record firmly towards peak-time dancefloors.”TECIE” links this version of Natural Blues to an upcoming original movie of the same name spotlighting a Gen-Z romance set in the LA animal rights and activism scene. The meaning behind the acronym TECIE will be revealed in November.Rate (4/5) Password:soundfist23

    • JAMES BLUNT – TASTE LIKE SUMMER
by SOUNDFISTER on August 14, 2026 at 6:22 pm

Starting from the single cover all the way to the song itself and the title James Blunt return to music sounds great.Following the celebration of the 20th anniversary of his iconic debut Back to Bedlam and his sold-out UK arena run, James Blunt returns with his first brand-new music since 2023’s Who We Used To Be.Unlike the melancholy acoustic ballads that defined his early career (“You’re Beautiful”, “Goodbye My Lover”), “Tastes Like Summer” leans heavily into breezy pop energy and stadium-ready, uplifting instrumentation. His brand new single delivers exactly what it promises on the cover: a joyful, unpretentious slice of late-summer optimism. Blunt’s signature vocal delivery carries enough tongue-in-cheek charm to keep the song grounded, while the polished production ensures it has plenty of radio appeal. It’s a refreshing new release and one of the best this week….Rate (4/5) Password:soundfist2

    • TROYE SIVAN – SHE’S THE BEST
by SOUNDFISTER on August 14, 2026 at 4:17 pm

Today i m really angry cause listening to most of the new releases the outcome is really disappointing.I will start with one of the most promising new releases and this was Troye Sivan’s comeback with his brand new single “She’s The Best”.What is a song huh?A field for making art (i get it) with the purpose to get into people’s mouth. But when you put a banana with a tape on the wall and this is what you call art then something is seriously wrong. And it can’t be saved even if you put Nicole Kidman to present it.I don’t care if the inspiration comes from your personal sexual oriantation and that means something to a small group of people but it gets annoying when you are so talented but you contain it to a gay culture for some reason.Break your boundaries Troye and make some real music. His fourth studio album “She’s the Best” will be out on October 9 and this is the title track as the first single.Rate (2.5/5) Password:soundfist93

    • STEVE LACY – OH YEAH?
by SOUNDFISTER on August 13, 2026 at 4:57 pm

Ae the new releases of the week are on their way there are some songs that are making their way on the charts using the viral factor on social media.Steve Lacy’s “Oh Yeah?” is challenging to enter the top 20 on the Billboard Hot 100 joining his mega hit “Bad Habit” as his second top 20 hit on the chart.Steve Lacy’s title track “Oh Yeah?” serves as the opening statement for his third studio album “Oh Yeah?”.The song bridges Lacy’s signature bedroom-pop guitar chops with warm, lush analog synth textures. It strips away the polished pop constraints to deliver an intentional, genre-blurring burst of emotion. This is a grower that sounds more addictive and better with each play.Rate (4/5) Password:soundfist80

    • NOLI – COME OVER
by SOUNDFISTER on August 12, 2026 at 6:28 pm

Fresh off the press, underground electronic producer/artist Noli delivers “Come Over,” a standalone single that captured my attention few hours ago.”Come Over” is a tight, mood-setting electronic track that feels tailored for late-night drives and low-lit club sets. It showcases Noli’s knack for minimalist yet compelling sound design, making it a standout addition to modern underground electronic playlists. The song locks into a sleek, hypnotic groove. Built on moody, atmospheric synth layers and crisp electronic percussion, “Come Over” leans heavily into a late-night, immersive aesthetic. Noli’s production uses space and restraint effectively letting rhythmic textures and vocal melodies drift in and out without overwhelming the mix.Very effective….Rate (4.5/5) Password:soundfist8
